Earlier this month I shared a look at our family room refresh (which I wanted to make sure got posted before this!) so my apologies in advance this one comes so late in the season. BUT the good part about all of this, while Halloween decor will be coming down soon – many of these items may go on major sale! So add them to your saved cart and wait a few days to see if it happens. That way, you can score some savings for decor for next year!
Our staircase (shown above) is probably my favorite dressed up area this year – with the floating candles and witch hats right behind it! The kids were so surprised I added these to the stairs this year (they weren’t expecting the skeletons at all!) and all 3 older ones thanked me for putting them up. I turned their heads slightly to make it look like they were looking at us while they scaled up the stairs. I affectionately have been calling them our ‘spooky scaling skellies“! I added this gauze to cover the stairs and then just zip tied the skellies hands and sternum to the stairs. Pretty simple and like I said, the kids really loved it!
Paper bats are kind of a rite of passage when it comes to Halloween decor, am I right? I added some around our entryway mirror and the mirror in our family room, too. The boys asked for some in the bedrooms (not shown in this post) and I obliged. You’re only young once!! Love these stems for a little black accent and the skull was a DIY I shared on the blog earlier this month, along with the little beige and black pumpkins for a neutral touch! The disco ball isn’t really apart of the Halloween decor (probably will stay year round ;)) but I thought it looked good in this space too.
I added that same gauze to our the white console table in our living room, along with some crows, this skull (actually a cookie jar! but I love as room decor) and the skelly hand I DIY’d when I did the skull, mentioned above. The flameless candles finish the look!!!
For the witch hats and floating candles, I have all of the details over on this post! Be sure to check it out for the “how to”!!
My office (which I’ll be sharing the entire thing with you soon!) didn’t get too much, just a cute little ghost garland this year. This was something I got in 2020, but we had it in the dining room in previous years.
Next to our couch I added a this cute spider with some Command velcro strips (if you’ve never used these before, you’re missing out! I literally use them for multiple things in life OFTEN!!!) and the bats again, of course. The ghost pumpkin was a Target dollar spot find this year!
These shelves that C built in our family room were also decked out this year!! This is our first holiday with them and ever since he built them I’ve been excited about them for the holidays. I’m already dreaming of a Christmas set up for them!!! This tan colored gauze was a nice change up from the black that I had been using lots of in the other rooms. The potion bottles were a Final Clearance find for .75c and I added black sand to them. I added this ghost candy dish and a crow, and the candles I used here and on the other side were from the dollar section at Target again.
Our dining table will wrap this post up! I plan to do a full post next month on our new table (which we LOVE!!) but I wanted to still show you all how we decorated it for fall. I didn’t really go too ‘Halloween-y’ with it as I wanted it to feel more fall-ish than scary. I did add the tan gauze again to the chandelier and kinda made it drape to give off a tiny bit of spooky vibe.
Hope you loved this tour and found some inspiration!
