Hi friends! I apologize that this blog is so overdue – we originally started the process of Colly’s nursery in the fall of 2020 (what was my small shop’s office and housed hundreds and hundreds of t-shirts over the last 6 years!) and I kind of just knew it was going to take a bit to complete but I never intended it to take this long to share.
Once we were able to fully get my office furniture, inventory, and other supplies out, C built her crib (same crib that we used with Honey, just a different color – see below!) and we eventually moved all of the furniture from Honey’s nursery – that was also both of the boys! – here too. We’ve used the same changing table, book shelf, dresser and hutch for every Disney baby and it felt so special being able to use it for our 4th and last. Quick story about this furniture: it was ALL thrifted on Craig’s List (remember CL?!) in 2012 when I was pregnant with Conner. I bought the crib (which we got rid of when it was time for Cole’s nursery, because Conner was reallyyyyy rough on his while teething) and hutch/dresser together, the changing table next from someone completely different, and then found the bookshelf last from another family. I was so proud of myself for being so thrifty and frugal while becoming a new mama and trying to figure out all of the new costs in starting our family. As mentioned, all of the original furniture (excluding the cribs. Ok, so why the cribs? Simply put, our babies have been extremely hard on their cribs. The cost was minimal – about $90-$100 via Amazon– to replace each time considering we were able to reuse everything else!) went to Colly’s nursery.
I began moving things out and selling my inventory off in the summer of 2020 to prep this space for Colly Girl’s arrival. My “theme” for it even before finding out the gender was natural textures and earth tones (very 2020, right?) Honestly though, I did this because C had JUST switched out my light fixture in here to this rattan light as I was wanting to scale back my office (I knew I was not going to be “ready to ship” for my shirts as it no longer fit my business model) and have it be more of a calm, natural vibe. It just made sense to keep this theme for our unexpected, but very much prayed for, miracle baby.
I wanted pops of peach, blush, and yellow along with the natural wood look. I switched out the pulls on the dresser/hutch (they stayed with Honey’s new big girl furniture) to some light wood and blush bunnies.
Sadly, Colly was not super interested in paci’s (except maybe to distract for a few minutes while I trimmed her nails or we were at one of her siblings soccer games) and we had so many clips and style of pacis ready to go upon her arrival. I repurposed this jewelry stand to hold all of them for her which was a great storage solution! Now that she’s 1 and way past the point of getting into them, I’m going to keep this stand for myself and probably put a picture frame in it’s place.
The wallpaper we used in this space was supposed to be my office makeover prior to finding out I was pregnant. We used 4 rolls and is a more attainable option. Her name wood sign is from here.
Her hammock chair was again another purchase I intended to use for my revamped office space and I couldn’t see why I shouldn’t add it in here. We had a glider with Conner and Cole which actually never really got a ton of use, which is why didn’t bother to get one for Honey’s nursery. I figured even if I didn’t end up rocking her in it (which I actually did once she started using her room more after the 6th month mark!) I thought it’d be cool for her (eventual) big girl/toddler room. We added this cute tassel pouf so that when/if we did sit here, we could prop our feet up. Her pink tufted rug was something else I bought for my new officespace, but it fit with the vibe so we kept it in the nursery.
The changing table/station is another we didn’t really use much for any of our babies – I usually just end up changing them on the floor which I know isn’t great for my back but it’s just kind of what worked and was most convenient. Anyway, the changing table followed along to each nursery space and provided extra storage for baby stuff. The square baskets inside were used to hold her extra swaddle blankets, and the more round baskets are used to store her bath products, diapers, wipes, and other hygiene needs.
The wall has some holes that needs patching, but that will have to happen at a later time! I really love the small little gallery wall with a couple cute, boho prints and then a sweet sister picture and a photo of my bump with Colly’s moccasins + Honey’s moccasins from Bare Soles!
Colly’s bookshelf was yet another item that’s been in all 4 of our baby’s nurseries now. I have books on it that my mom saved from when I was a kid and then have passed on the ones from her siblings, too. We’ve added to it since she’s been born with some of the popular baby books out there. I found some cute cubes to compliment the natural accents in the room – I love the little pompoms on them!
Colly absolutely LOVES her room! We transitioned her to her crib around 6 months and she has seemed so content. Now that she’s 13 months she’s starting to take interest in what’s in it – on days where Honey isn’t at preschool I will dump a bin of toys and let them play. She also is enjoying her baby dolls and learning from big sis how to play with them!
The mini blanket ladder is something her Daddy made for this space and I adore it – even more so the fact it was hand made by him, just for her.
We reused our Lollipop baby camera that we used with Honey and cannot say enough amazing things about this cam – I have it linked to my phone so all I have to do is pull up the app when I want to check in on her during nap and/or bedtime. It can sense the distinction between noise + real cries, which I appreciate too.
