Along with the spice shelf I just recently shared about reorganizing, this area in our (kitchen) cabinet has been a sore spot for me for a while. It wasn’t horrible, but it definitely needed a face lift and some better structure to better suit our family. I’ll share some ‘before’ pics below. We were mostly utilizing those awesome y-weave baskets that I really do love, but since they’re not clear/see thru it was hard to tell what we need when searching. I love this new system because I can literally see everything at a glance!
With 4 kids in the house, we have a handful of ‘wellness’ items on hand. I try to not go overboard but with pain + germs + kids, it’s not something I really want to mess around with.
For our “every day” items (I say every day, but we don’t obviously take them ALL every day other than vitamins), I grabbed two of these divided lazy susans. I love how they’re sectioned off and you can actually fit a few different products in each. I have lots of things the kids use, from their vitamins + pain relief as well as liquid syringes we reuse to administer on the left side. On the one I have to the right of it, it has more of our adult allergy meds and supplements. Even though there is definitely room behind each of these turntables to fit more, I really didn’t want to be reaching around and over things – especially for these items I mentioned that are most used by us.
On the next two shelves I used 2 packs of these bins. I added prescription medications and back up OTC medications to the middle shelf. The top shelf of bins has some bulk supplements, OTC drops and creams, the extra stock of my fave barf bags (that we keep in the car and on the go!) and wet wipes.
So there you have it, I was able to transform and re organize this space with a little over $100. This system is what has been working really well for our fam since January – even my husband has helped me keep it really tidy (which isn’t hard!) since everything has a home.
Let me know when you plan to start yours and how it comes out! I’d love to see so make sure to tag me.
