My First “BIG” Solo DIY

The real muscle behind many of the DIY’s I share (not counting crafting!! Those are alllll me, ok!? 😆) is my husband. It’s not a secret! I usually have the idea for the project (especially home stuff I share) and then he makes it happen.

Many of the DIY peel and stick wallpapers I’ve shared on my IG are his awesome handy work. I’ve offered to help with an extra set of hands and he kindly tells me no, so I end up filming and taking photos, haha. He’s really great at it, so not like he needs me.

I had a wild hair to give the angled wall that leads up to our stairway a little refresh. I reeeeaaaally wanted to paint it, but he said we should probably wait because we plan to rip out the carpet soon and it could be messy, potentially messing up the new paint. Well, I figured since this wall might need some help later on anyway, it would be a good time for me to practice a little wallpaper DIY! Other than wallpapering Honey’s one tiny closet wall, I actually had zero experience.

BEFORE

I found some super affordable options for peel and stick wallpaper and picked one that I thought would match the room that faces the stairs. I linked a bunch of them (graphic below) on my LTK and you can find that post here! I’ve actually used several of them in the photo to line the shelves in the kid’s rooms, which is a great idea if you’re wanting to give an easy, cute, and quick makeover to a small closet space. To get a more precise cut, I used this X-Acto knife and it was extremely helpful!

Well, this probably wasn’t the best wall to practice on, due to how it’s angled and the stairs giving it weird cut out type areas 😅 But hey, it was a challenge and I over came it!! It’s not (anywhere near) perfect, and def rustic, lol, but I DID IT!!! I think it brings character and color it didn’t have before, so I’m 100% happy with it!

What do you think? How’d I do? Have you ever tried to wallpaper a crazy angled wall like this – and if so – do you have any tips in case I ever attempt something like this again? 🤣

DIY Accent Wall with Love vs. Design

I love a good before and after – and this one does not disappoint! We were fortunate to have an amazing collaboration opportunity with Love vs. Design to feature one of their custom peel and stick wallpapers in our home. Immediately I thought of a space we spend a lot of time in that we’ve been wanting to refresh, which is our loft aka our family hang out room!!

BEFORE

The room itself wasn’t overly dark but I definitely wouldn’t have described it as bright and airy. This was something I definitely wanted to achieve with transforming this accent wall and I knew LVD could do with ease. In my opinion, this is what makes this business stand out against all competitors – their color choices and the ability to customize every single color within the wallpaper is completely mind blowing!!! They have SO many beautiful patterns and having the option to customize every detail (down to the individual line color inside of some gorgeously intricate design choices) really makes it personalized to you and your home.

They also have the ability to order samples to get a feel of what those colors and patterns that you customized actually look in real life – which is so cool! We ordered about two handfuls of different options and it was pretty hard to choose because there were several I was really drawn to and would’ve looked beautiful in our space. Ultimately we chose the Geometric Sunrise design, and we customized the colors to Egret for the background color and Ceramic for the pattern color.

AFTER

There are also two different materials of the wallpaper itself to choose from – smooth or woven. We opted for the woven material. If it helps, we live in Arizona and pretty much all homes are built here with textured walls. After we installed this wallpaper, you cannot see the texture through the wallpaper backing at all. It is smooth and looks almost as if it was painted on!!!

The process itself was pretty effortless for C too, and is easily attainable to install with just one person doing the job. What’s also so beneficial about adding this to your home is that it does not damage the walls! It is super simple to remove, which makes it a great option if you rent and don’t want to do anything permanent to the room. You don’t have to be a pro to give your space a little upgrade with some beautiful peel and stick wallpaper from Love vs. Design.

This was the first step we took to refresh our loft space, and I’ll be taking you along with the rest of the work we do in here. I LOVE how it turned out and every time I’m in this room now, I catch myself stopping to stare at it and how incredible it looks. It really makes the room (which isn’t gigantic) feel so much bigger and of course, definitely makes it feel 100x brighter!!! YAY!

Mom Hack Monday: Boho Frame DIY

Last spring I had seen a beaded mirror and a cake stand at Hobby Lobby, and it got me thinking about how cute these wood beads would be on a picture frame! I knew I had to attempt it – and thankfully it came out as cute it was in my head!

What I Used

Any cheap frame will work – I like to use ones that have a double border/edge so that you can still see the color of the frame and then put the beads on the inner most edge, but it doesn’t matter.

How To

It really is as simple as it looks. Just add a dot of glue to the back of the bead, and place it firmly. I started in the corner, but I’m not sure it makes a difference. Keep carefully adding each bead until you fill the frame. Make sure to let it cure for a full 24 hours before you touch it and put your picture inside 😉 That’s it!! Easy, right?!
