Hi friends!! Today I’m sharing how I put together this quick DIY movie night/concession cart for our fam! I’m pretty excited since we have been working on our backyard in anticipation/preparation to have movie nights out there once it cools down (and these mosquitos are gone — STILL waiting on both of those situations to improve!)
We bought this projector + screen last year and got our turf installed over the summer so we’ve been putting these plans into place for a while now. I had envisioned snuggling up with some blankets and of course, snacks (!) with the kids enjoying Harry Potter and some other festive movies!!
I had this cart I purchased for CQC years ago and haven’t used it in quite some time. When I moved my office downstairs and transitioned it to Colly’s nursery, I saw the cart still sitting, empty. For the last 10 months I’ve used it to house her bows, clips, extra pacis, teethers, and toys. I rarely touch it, even with it’s most recent transition, so I figured I could do something even better/more useful for our family with it!!!
Popcorn is a staple during our family movie nights, so I knew I wanted 1 or 2 of the shelves to include popcorn things. On the top, I added packaged popcorn and the middle shelf has our popcorn containers (love these pink ones with white stars!) and the popcorn seasoning. Also to the top I added our ‘splurge’ treats which are full size candy bars (I grab these HERE from Target at a little bit of a discount!)
The last row or shelf I used these bamboo/glass containers and filled them with some of our fave movie candies: Starburst, Skittles, Gummy Bears, and peanut M+Ms!!
What I am thrilled about is there is a ton more space to fill in the bottom 2 rows — I was thinking I could add the kids’ Zevia drinks, small bottles of water, or even Gatorade. This cart can definitely grow with our family and I’m also dreaming up ways we can use it when the kids’ friends or family stop by too! I am certain it will be around for a bunch of entertaining and backyard movie nights to come!
