Today I’m sharing two ways we made pancakes and waffles over Spring Break and gave them a little magical twist!
These aren’t super intricate or, even… innovative? I’m sure cooler ones have been done 🤪 However, they definitely brought my kids lots of joy and I hope they can be enjoyed by yours too!
Unicorn Pancakes
Needed:
Pancake batter (homemade or store bought!)
Fun sprinkles
Whip cream
Ice cream cones (I get the waffle ones that have the pointed ends)
Blueberries
Strawberries
Bananas
Assembly:
Make one large pancake for the head and a smaller for the nose. Cut a triangle shape from the banana (doesn’t need to be perfect) for the ears, and 2 blueberries for the eyes. For the nostrils, slice smaller triangle shapes and place side by side. For the hair/mane, use whip cream (don’t forget to put some on the top!), and then place your cone in the middle of the top part of the ‘hair’. Add sprinkles around the whip cream and voila! Pro Tip: do not assemble the fruit until you’re almost ready to serve to prevent browning and staining (esp for the blueberry eyes!). Also, make sure you do the whip cream for the very last step as it will melt if it sits too long!
Dragon Waffles
This was per Cole’s request after our unicorn pancakes – I really had no clue how to make these. Winged it and I think they came out pretty cute!!
Needed:
Waffle batter (again – store bought is just fine!)
Bananas
Strawberries
Marshmallows
Candy eyes
Red/yellow/orange sprinkles
Assembly:
For each dragon, you’ll need: 1 full waffle for the body and 1 divided for the head and tail. Cook both waffles and set one on the plate for the body. For the divided one, cut off the sides of the waffle. Place the cut (rectangle shape) in front of the body and then take one of those sides you cut and place it on top of the head. The other piece place on the far right side of the waffle body (for the tail!). Use strawberry halves for the feet, and marshmallows at the lining of the head for the teeth. Cut triangles out of the bananas for the dragons spikes along its back. Add whip cream for the ‘smoke’ coming out around by the dragons mouth/nose. Add the sprinkles to make it look like fire! I had a mixture that had some gold stars and red pieces so I went with those to give it that effect 😉
ENJOY!! Tag me if you make them!
